- Ref:North West Champion (Moree, NSW : 1915 - 1954), Thursday 18 January 1951, page 10
"Of the Union Church at Popinguy, the Rev. Bloomfield writes-The Popinguy Service had its beginning when the Rev. P. A. Smith of Warialda, commenced Church at the home of Mr. R. Makim, 'Alma', in 1915. Later the Rev. Wm. Spence used to preach at 'Glenelg', the home of Mr and Mrs. Cruickshank. On their withdrawal from the district, the Rev.S. Watson preached under a spreading tree. The residents of the district then built in 1925 a fine little church building, and invited the Ministers of the various Churches to hold regular Sabbath worship. The first to preach in it was the Rev. A. Edmunds"
