Notes |
- Kath was recognised by the Australian Government in 1995 for her efforts during World War II when she took control of the family property 'Alma" Pallamallawa NSW - her six brothers were away on active duty and her father Richard Woods Makim was serving in the Volunteer Defence Corps -providing protection on the Northern beaches of Sydney.
When her brothers returned from active service, some wounded, most traumatised, she would spend many hours quietly listening,as each brother attempted to unburden themselves of the horrors of War.As therapy she would also dance with them on the back verandah of the family home, as this seemed to help settle the demons. Each asked Kath never to speak to others of the trauma they were experiencing. She never did.
