- Margaret was a nursing sister in France during WWI.She was awarded the Royal Red Cross ,in 1919.Ref:The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954) Thursday 6 February 1919.
The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954) Friday 24 December 1920 "OBITUARY.-MRS. W. J. FOSTER. The death took place at a private hospital on December 23 of Mrs. W. J. Foster, wife of Colonel Foster, C.B., C.M.G., D.S.O. Mrs.Foster will be remembered as Sister M. Woods, R.R.C., eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm.Woods, Wood Park, Moree. She served with the A.I.F. in Egypt and England, and saw five years' active service. Much sympathy is felt for Colonel Foster, who is still in England, but who was to leave by the Osterley next month." William was still in England when Margaret died.
