Notes |
- (Twin of Noel) WW II Service Number - ARMY -NX 148022. R.A.A.F 439065.John was in the army ,stationed in Darwin, when the Japanese attacked - then transferred to the Air Force
John contracted Diphtheria as a five year old in 1926 ,and his brother Sam could still remember(in 2009) the screams when John was being injected with a large hyperdermic needle containing horse serum - there was no penicillin or antibiotics even discovered at the time .The horse serum probably had some additive to try to combat the virus .John eventually recovered , but died at only 57 years of age , the damage done to his heart by the diphtheria possibly a contributing factor.
