- William Woods was the step brother of John Woods (who married Margaret Middleton).He was a member of the The Board of Guardians for the Roscrea Poor Law Union in 1862.
His brother George also married ,had a daughter Ellen ,born 1832,who married Sub Constable,Thomas Bindin Shaw on 27.Jan 1848 in Kilfithmone..They had one child during their marriage ,Edith Anna Shaw. Edith Anna Shaw was born on 15 November 1859 in Port Huron, Michigan, USA.
Edith was married twice, firstly to George C Mei. ,and they had a daughter Edith ,in 1883.
She then married Walter G Spencer and they had four children - Ivan Spencer b. 1892 , Eric Goulding Spencer b.1894 , Kenneth Shaw Spencer and Dean Shaw Spencer b. 1896.
She died on 11 November 1921 in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, at the age of 61
Barnane Castle was owned by the Carden family ,English aristrocrats.Its last owner was Capt.Carden,before the IRA blew it to rubble in 1918.
