This marriage was deemed unlawful. Ref:Clarence and Richmond Examiner and New England Advertiser (Grafton, NSW : 1859 - 1889)Saturday 14 August 1886.

"BIGAMY.-At the Sydney Quarter Sessions, on August 4, James Walker was charged with bigamy, he having married Mary Hannah Bussey on January 1, 1876, and afterwards on February 21, 1882, at Grafton, he married Clara Jane Reilly, the said Mary Hannah Bussey then being alive. He pleaded guilty. Prisoner's mother stated that when he was first married he was 19 years of ago, and that she told him the marriage was not legal, and was not binding upon him. His Honor sentenced prisoner to one year's Imprisonment."

Some records also list Clifford Barker Williams(1887-1954) as a son of this marriage ,but this is incorrect.Cliffords parents were James Williams ,of Clerkenwell, London ,and Clara Barker. This particular marriage is recorded in The Sydney Morning Herald (NSW : 1842 - 1954) Tuesday 12 July 1887 "WILLIAMS-BARKER.-May 4,1887, by special license, at St. James' Church, Sydney, by the Rev. H. L. Jackson, James Williams,of Clerkenwell, London, to Clara, the second daughter of Thomas Barker, of Double Bay, late of Shoalhaven, N. S. W."

James eventually moves to Queensland and is living with Matilda Smith in Grove St, Albion QLD according to the 1913 Electoral Roll. In 1921 and 1925 James and Matilda "Williams" are living in Stephenson Street, Rosalie QLD.(Matilda is recorded as Matilda Gilmour ,Friend ,on James Death Certificate , but her death record in 1957 is entered as Matilda Williams)

He died 18th Sep 1935 and is buried with Matilda's mother, Henreitta Gaffey (nee Price) at Toowong Cemetery on 19 Sep 1935. (Portion 28, Section 2, Grave 13).
