He was, it appears, shot in the neck in the trenches of Gallipoli, and removed to the hospital ship. Soon after- wards he succumbed to his injuries, and was buried at sea. The deceased was 22 years of age, and left for the front in March. He was a fine stamp of Austra- lian manhood, and was universally es- teemed for his many good qualities. The news of his death was received with deep regret by all who knew him."
