  	The Wallaces and Moores believed very strongly in intermarriage among relations, and when James Wallace's daughter Jane married against his wishes , she and her husband James Chestnut had to emigrate to escape the furore. In 1853, she married James Chesnut, a farmer in Drumabest.The marriage took place in 1st Kilraughts Presbyterian Church and not in her own church. They stayed in Drumabest until after the birth of their son John, but later emigrated. Even on his deathbed (nearly 30 years later) James Wallace refused to forgive his daughter for marrying against his wishes.He left only 20 pounds to Jane when he died compared to 100 pounds to his other heirs.(Ref:PRONI Wills Calender for James Wallace) .Janes unmarried sister Mary,who remained at Knockahollett,was the major beneficciary.
