- Ref:The Maitland Mercury & Hunter River General Advertiser (NSW : 1843 - 1893) Thursday 25 July 1861 "ACCIDENT.-On Friday evening, the 12th instant, Miss Susan Goodwin, youngest daughter of Mrs. W. Fenn, of Wowingragong, being engaged in some domestic employment near a fire, her garments, which were of very slight texture, ignited, and she was almost instantly enveloped in flames ; and but for the selfless devotion of her sister, Miss White, the consequences would, in all probability, have been fatal. As it is, the latter is the greatest sufferer, having had her arms and hands fearfully burned. Both of the amiable young ladies are, however, I am happy to say, doing well.-Bathurst Times, July 20."
