  • Notes
    • In the Colonial Secretary Index, 1788-1825 (Reel 6040; 4/403 p.83) held in the NSW Government Archives, permission was granted for a Jane Scully, aged 6 years, to be admitted into the Female Orphan Institution .Her parents, Michael(formerly of 48th Regiment) and Margaret , were both recently deceased . She was later apprenticed to a C Cooper on 20 Aug 1826,aged 12.

Whether that child is in fact the Emma J Scully recorded here ,is not known, for although she was married as Jane Scully,in records from the Colonial Secretary granting permission for the Convict George Boswell to marry , she wais recorded as Emma J. Scully
