- Simeon Lord's Vault at Devonshire Street Cemetery was opened in 1901 and 10 coffins were noted. All the remains were moved to Bunnerong Cemetery (Botany) and when this historic cemetery was destroyed it is assumed that the coffin containing the 10 remains stayed in that location. No records were kept even though it was stipulated that they should have been. Simeon Lord's vault was moved to the ever reducing historic section of Botany Cemetery

- Simeon was the fourth child of Simeon Lord and Ann Fielden of Dobroyd, Yorkshire, England. His eldest brother John was born on 26 Apr 1765,sister Mary on 5 Aug 1766 and brother Joshua on 26 Sep 1768.
Simeon was convicted at Manchester Quarter Sessions in April 1790 of theft and sentenced to transportation for seven years. He arrived in Sydney in 1791 and was soon assigned as servant to Captain Thomas Rowley of the 102nd Regiment, who was soon to assist Simeon in gaining his Ticket of Leave.
He began his business empire by selling spirits and general merchandise bought in bulk by officers of the New South Wales Corps, and would later become a very wealthy and infliential member of the NSW citizenry.
