• Notes

  Married: William and Mary were cousins,and spent their early married life in Garrel , later relocating to Caerlaverock. William and Mary had a total of nineteen children ,fifteen of whom are listed below.Another four (three daughters and a son )were stillborn or died as infants ,birth years 1757,1769,1773 and 1775. The family memorial in Caerlaverock Parish Churchyard reads "In memory of William Kirkpatrick,late of Conheath,Mary Wilson his spouse,Isabell,Alexander and Elizabeth Kirkpatrick ,their children.Rosina Kirkpatrick died at Nithbank 5th day of April,1833.Jane Forbes Kirkpatrick,last surviving child of the above William and Mary Kirkpatrick,born 18th Sep.1767,died 21 Dec. 1854.Erected by John Kirkpatrick,merchant in Ostend,eldest son of deceased William Kirkpatrick,April 1788".
