    Catherines Marriage Certificate states Catherine was a milliner employed at 19 Academy St,Belfast. (James Kirkpatrick's shop)at the time of her marriage .

    (Research):James and Catherine's eldest son John had purchased a house at 88 Alice St Newtown (an inner Sydney suburb)in 1917,and moved there from Hoxton Park when he commenced work with the Newtown Council.Catherine was residing there with John and his family until she passed away in her 84th year in 1941. She was greatly loved by all the family (as was James)and renowned throughout the district for her cooking .From the time of becoming widowed she had worn the "Widow's Weed's" ,a totally black outfit ,from head to toe,and never wore any other more colourful outfits. Catherine cherished her Irish roots and a tear would always appear in her eye as she listened to her Grandsons singing a favoutite stanza during the many family gatherings.Her favourite was 'A Farewell to C.E.G " by Charles Kingsley..

The death of Mrs. Catherine Kirkpatrick, aged 83 years, widow of the late Mr. James Kirkpatrick, of Hoxton Park, and mother of Margaret, John, James, Charles (deceased), Samuel (deceased), Agnes, Joseph, Robert, Mary, Lilian and George, occurred at a private hospital last Monday. September 22. The last mortal remains were interred in the Liverpool Presbyterian cemetery on Tuesday afternoon, after a short service conducted at Liverpool Presbyterian Church by Rev. C. C. Wearne. "

    In 1901 ,Lilly,a widow,and her unmarried children Nancy,Lena(spelt Lenay or Leney in some transcriptions of the census),John ,and Hugh, were residing at house 8 in Drumdallagh (Ballycregagh, Antrim).Lilly's 12 year old grandson George McCaughan ,a scholar, was boarding with them.
