William was the first of the family to emigrate to Australia ,arriving 28 Jun 1862 aboard the "Lady Milton".In 1864 he was a resident of Ashfield,NSW.

"The death occurred on Tuesday night last, at 8.30, after a very short illness, of Mr. William Woods, of Woodpark, Moree. The old gentle man, who was in his 84th year, caught a chill, which developed into bronchial pneumonia.. Born in County Tipperary, he came to Australia in 1862 and from that time practically spent the whole of his life in the country between Moree and Inverell.Mrs. Woods, who is 72 years of age,is unfortunately very ill at the present time. The funeral took place to the Church of England cemetery yesterday afternoon and was very largely attended."

William married Catherine KIRK on 7 Mar 1871 in Inverell, New South Wales, Australia. Catherine (daughter of Thomas KIRK and Agnes Ann FRASER) was born on 21 Sep 1853 in Midlothian, Scotland; died on 25 Feb 1933 in Roseville, New South Wales, Australia. [Group Sheet]

The death occurred on Saturday at Roseville, Sydney, of Mrs. Catherine Woods, wife of the late Mr. William Woods, a well-known Moree grazier, of Woodpark, Ashley. She was 70 years of age, and lived in the Moree district for about 42 years. She was a native of Scotland, and for the past eight years had been living at Roseville"

John Woods was the step brother of William Woods(husband of Anne Dudley).

Another half brother George also married ,had a daughter Ellen Agnes ,born 1832,who married Sub Constable,Thomas Bindin Shaw on 27 Jan 1848 in Kilfithmone.They had one child during their marriage ,Edith Anna Shaw. Edith Anna Shaw was born on 15 November 1859 in Port Huron, Michigan, USA.

Edith married twice, firstly to George C Mei. ,and they had a daughter Edith ,in 1883.

She then married Walter G Spencer and they had four children - Ivan Spencer b. 1892 , Eric Goulding Spencer b.1894 , Kenneth Shaw Spencer and Dean Shaw Spencer b. 1896.

She died on 11 November 1921 in Battle Creek, Michigan, USA, at the age of 61

(Research):When the Woods family first arrived in Ireland has not been established ,but it is thought it may have been with Cromwell's army in 1649,or with William of Orange in 1690.

John married Margaret"Peggy" MIDDLETON about 1836. Margaret"Peggy" was born in 1811 in Ireland; died on 3 Nov 1904 in Graigue, Templemore.Co Tipperary, Ireland; was buried in Barnane, Diocese of Cashel and Emly, County Tipperary, Ireland. [Group Sheet]

Thomas married Agnes Ann FRASER in 1842. Agnes was born on 4 Jan 1820 in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland; and died. [Group Sheet]

Thomas was a Journeyman Slater and Bricklayer.The family resided at 13 Flesh Market Close ,Edinburgh prior to moving to Australia. He arrived with his family at Moreton Bay,Queensland,as assisted passengers,on January 21 1855 aboard the "William Miles".
